Pre & Post Care Instructions: Ensuring Your Results Last

To maintain the best results and keep your skin healthy, please follow these pre & post care guidelines carefully.

  • Preparing for your treatment

Drink plenty of water before your treatment, this will make your treatment more effective and comfortable. Electrolysis works by using the water content in your skin. When dehydrated, the hairs are much more difficult to treat and the treatment can be painful.

Ensure hair has at least 2-4 days worth of growth

Exfoliating 24 – 48 hours before your appointment removes dead skin and exposes the opening of the hair follicle, making it easier to treat and remove the hair

Please arrive showered prior to your session. Areas such as genitals and underarms may have an unpleasant odor if not cleaned. Should this occur, you will kindly be asked to reschedule your appointment

If using numbing cream- apply a layer to the treated area and cover with press'n seal plastic food wrap 1 HOUR prior to treatment

  • Post Treatment

    Redness and swelling is normal

Do not touch or scratch treated area

Avoid excessive sweating, jaccuzzi, sauna, swimming

Avoid the sun for 48hrs, always use SPF to avoid hyperpigmentation

    Use a gentle cleanser

    Moisturize

No perfume or make up on treated area

  • pOSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

The amount and severity of the side effects that you experience with electrolysis depends largely on the sensitivity of your skin, the duration of the session and the density of the hair in the area that's being treated.

Most people experience one or more of the following side effects following a session of Electrolysis:

It's normal to have some redness, slight swelling, warmth & tingling on the treated area. It will usually disappear after a few hours or by the next day.

Red dots on the treated area (usually only last a few days). Aloe vera, witch hazel, hydrocortisone 1% cream also helps.

Acne breakouts typically occur for those with sensitive skin and are acne prone. Should disapear in a week. Do not pop these “pimples”, you may risk hyperpigmentation and infection.

Small scabs: This can happen and last up to a week. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

Bruising: This can happen although it’s very rare. It will usually disappear in 7-10 days. You can apply Arnica gel or take the Arnica oral homeopathy tablets.
